![]() But I have yet to see any truly believable test results proving it does. The fact that your RX-8 doesn't overheat with the addition of WW hardly means that it will overheat minus the WW.Ĭars used in racing situations are outside their makers intended use and may benefit from the addition of WW. There is no need to add anything to the coolant other than the recommended products. Cooling systems are designed to operate efficiently with the addition of anti-freeze and car makers go to great expense to ensure this is so. Neither one of them posseses the qualities which they impart to water. Water Wetter and anti-freeze are both additives for coolant water. I know many racers that swear by a straight water + water wetter mixture. ![]() The car stays cool and doesn't show a hint of overheating even out in 100 degree heat at performance events. I was just wondering if any of these actually work on decreasing the temp. Or I was just hoping it did, and it seemed like it lol. When I used it with the coolant, it seemed like it stayed a bit cooler. ![]() But the Royal Purple says to use it only with water. I'm not a chemist, so I can't fully guarantee that those statements are true, but in over 40,000 miles of running a 85% water / 15% anti-freeze / 1 bottle water wetter mixture in my RX-8, I've not had any problems. I bought the Water Wetter and used it with 50/50 coolant (not straight water). Water wetter is advertised to have corrosion inhibitors as well as providing water pump lubrication. From WERAs rulebook: c) Water cooled engines may use plain water, or water with Redline (or similar product, call WERA for verification) cooling system rust and corrosion inhibitor at 0.5 ounces per quart of plain water concentration, Silkolene Pro CCA (Corrosion Control Additive) and Royal Purple Purple Ice are also allowed. Anti-freeze is there to prevent the coolant mixture from freezing it's not there because it cools better than water.Ģ. A car will cool faster with more water / less anti-freeze. Water has better heat transfer properties than anti-freeze.
